Checklist of supporting documents required by application type

New Vehicle

  • V5c Registration document (DVLA log book)
  • Current MOT
  • Vehicle Compliance Test
  • A valid certificate of insurance in the name of the registered keeper. Where a cover note is provided, the full policy must be produced when the applicant receives it. There must be an appropriate insurance policy in force at all times that the vehicle is licensed to carry passengers for hire or reward.
  • Bill of Sale / Purchase Receipt must be produced
  • Brand new vehicles: if a V5c (log book) has not been issued by the DVLA the purchase receipt/invoice must show full vehicle details including: a) date of first registration b) fuel type c) engine cc d) colour e) make/model f) body type g) number of doors

Replacement Vehicle

In addition to all of the above, the following items must be returned

  • Old Wyre Licence Plates – These remain the property of Wyre Council (s.58 LGMP)
  • Previous Wyre vehicle licence
  • Previous Wyre vehicle windscreen licence disc
  • Where the new vehicle is, or has previously been, licensed by Wyre Council a ‘change of ownership’ form may be required e.g. a current private hire vehicle replacing a hackney carriage

Renewal

  • A valid certificate of insurance in the name of the registered keeper. Where a cover note is provided, the full policy must be produced when the applicant receives it. There must be an appropriate insurance policy in force at all times that the vehicle is licensed to carry passengers for hire or reward.
