External links

Pages on sites run by Wyre Council include links to other sites. We try to include links to relevant organisations that you may find useful. However, with numerous websites around the world, we do need guidelines to help ensure we are fair and consistent.

Our external links provide users with further sources of relevant information and advice. As a general rule we usually link to government websites, partners or not-for-profit/non-commercial websites.

We do not maintain the external sites accessed through these links, and therefore does not assume any responsibility for their content. The inclusion of a link to a third-party web site on a Wyre run web page should not be considered an endorsement or recommendation.

If you have any queries about information accessed through links, you are advised to check directly with the organisation concerned.

We have two types of links:

  • internal links - these link to another part of the Wyre Council website. These might be referred to as related pages
  • external links - these are links to sites that we do not own, or have any control over, but that we think you might find useful.

We do not link to:

  • sites which are not free to access
  • external sites in return for cash, services or any other consideration in kind
  • commercial websites.

The reason for not linking to commercial websites is to be fair to everyone. If we add a link for one commercial website in a specific sector then we need to include all relevant links and that is not the core purpose of the Wyre Council website. We do accept though that, despite trying to enforce this rule, there may be occasions where we do include commercial website links but this is not normal or regular.

We try to review all external links on our sites regularly to check their content and quality. However, if you find a broken link or it links to material you feel is unsuitable, please contact us and let us know.

Linking to our website

Links may be made to our website from personal and organisational websites. We request that you link to our site rather than downloading portions of it to another web server, so that viewers will see the most up-to-date information.
