Draft Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plans
Local authorities have a duty to designate conservation areas and from time to time to review the boundaries.
Buildings within a conservation area become subject to special controls to prevent their demolition without express planning permission, and some permitted development rights are more restrictive.
Draft Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plan Documents have been produced by Growth Lancashire on behalf of Wyre Council for each of the seven conservation areas:
A Conservation Area Appraisal is an assessment of the current condition of the built environment and character of the landscape within a designated Conservation Area. The aim is to define the special interest of the conservation area and identify the issues which threaten its special qualities.
Public Consultation- Revised Boundaries for Poulton-le-Fylde, Fleetwood and Garstang
Following feedback received during the 2025 consultation, further changes have been made to the proposed conservation area boundaries for Poulton-le-Fylde, Fleetwood and Garstang.
We are now asking for your views specifically on the revised boundaries for these three conservation areas.
The purpose of reviewing conservation area boundaries is to make sure that they appropriately reflect the areas of special architectural and historic interest which should be conserved or enhanced.
This consultation is about the proposed boundary changes only. It is not a further consultation on the full Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plans.

What About the Other Conservation Areas?
The 2025 consultation also included Calder Vale, Churchtown, Lower Dolphinholme and Scorton.
Following consideration of the comments received, no significant changes to the proposed boundaries are required for these conservation areas. Their Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plans will therefore progress to the next stage for adoption by the Council.

As part of the consultation, council officers will be available at public drop-in sessions where you can view the proposed boundaries, ask questions and find out more about the review.

Fleetwood Market – Tuesday 20th October, 9:30am to 12:30pm
Garstang Library – Thursday 29th October, 3pm-6pm

Comments must include your full name and address. Comments received may be made public, including the name of the respondent but not their address, and will be taken into account when the Council finalises the conservation area boundaries.
The Council is unable to accept late submissions.
