Who we are and what we do
Our Environmental Enforcement team is dedicated to ensuring our community remains clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. Our officers operate on the frontline, tackling environmental crimes such as fly-tipping, littering, and dog fouling through a combination of proactive investigation and public engagement.
Our core responsibilities include:
- Waste & Litter Management: All flytipping incidents are investigated, and immediate action taken for observational offences such as littering, which hold offenders accountable.
- Animal Welfare: Collection of stray dog collection and addressing dog-related Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) offences.
- Public Space Maintenance: Identifying and taking the appropriate action relating to abandoned vehicles to keep our streets clear.
- Environmental Enforcement: Issuing sanctions, which includes Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs), and where necessary, progressing cases to formal prosecution.
Through consistent community engagement, we aim to educate the public on their environmental responsibilities, while ensuring that the appropriate and proportionate action is taken against individuals who do not comply with legislative guidelines.
