Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Delivery of new red lidded bins:

Due to Coronavirus pandemic and the strain on resources, some of you may not receive your red bin in time for the 6 April launch. If you haven’t received your red bin yet, please continue to use your green recycling box until we can deliver your red bin to you. If you have additional waste that you can't fit in your green box, please leave in a container next to your box and we will collect it. Try not to use carrier bags as these can't be recycled.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Recycling Service:

Our waste collection teams are working as hard as they can at the moment. However, your recycling collections may be affected and the position is changing daily. If your recycling bins have not been collected, please bring them back into your property. We will ensure that your grey bins are collected, these bins are our main priorities.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this disruption as a result of the pandemic.

We will make every effort to return to a normal service as soon as possible. We appreciate your co-operation in such difficult times and as with other key service personnel, we are doing our best to maintain services. Please remember that our staff and their families are affected as well.

Self Isolation waste:

Households that are self-isolating should follow the Government's 'Stay at home' advice which states:

  • Store personal waste such as used tissues and disposable cleaning cloths securely within disposable rubbish bags
  • Place these bags into another bag, tied securely and keep separate from other waste
  • These bags should be put aside for at least 72 hours before being put into your usual external general waste bin
  • Please do not take this waste to your local Household Waste and Recycling Centre.

Please dispose of your other household waste as normal. It is more important than ever to ensure that recycling is clean and dry, and that rubbish bags are all securely tied to help prevent spills and protect our collections teams and the public.

Importance of hand washing

Remember to wash your hands and clean the handles of your bins before and after you put them out.

The crew will have touched all the bins on your street, plus lots of others too, and can't change their gloves between each bin, so this helps to keep them and you stay safe.

Coronavirus update for our Bulky Matters collection service

We have reinstated our Bulky Matters collection service. We ask that once you book a slot with us, please leave items outside on day of collection and try to keep them dry. Due to the pandemic, we cannot enter your property.
