Fylde coast gypsy, traveller and travelling show people Accommodation Assessment

National government planning policy requires the needs of gypsies, travellers and travelling show people to be objectively assessed as part of the plan making process. In accordance with this policy, Wyre, Fylde and Blackpool councils, produced a joint 2014 Fylde Coast Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment (GTAA)

In August 2015 the government published a revised version of its planning guidance “Planning Policy for Traveller Sites” (PPTS). This introduced a fundamental change to the planning definition of gypsies, travellers and travelling show people. As a result the three councils published a 2016 Fylde Coast Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment Update
This latest assessment provides an updated picture of the need for pitches and plots, however the 2014 GTAA still remains relevant and the two reports should be read together.
