We have been awarded funding by Lancashire County Council’s Public Health department to provide an adult weight management plan for people classed as overweight or obese in Wyre. We are delighted to be working alongside Slimming World® to provide access to 12 week funded programmes for Wyre residents age over 18 with a BMI over 30.
Managing weight is key to reducing other health risks and we want to work with health professionals to offer a solution. Slimming World® is a well-established organisation with an effective evidence based programme focusing on nutrition, physical activity and behaviour change. Their consultants offer support, friendship and inspiration in a virtual or in person group.

Eligibility
To access the Wyre weight management programme with Slimming World, you must fulfil the following criteria:
You are eligible if:
- you are aged over 18
- you are a Wyre Resident or have a GP in the Wyre borough
- you have a BMI over 30. Check your BMI using the NHS calculator.
You are not eligible if:
- you have been a self-funded member of a Weight Management provider in the last 6 months
- you have been on the programme before in the last 12 months
- you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- you have an eating disorder
Apply online or talk to your GP or health care professional for a referral. Referrals are only allowed twice onto the programme.
Please only apply once for the Wyre weight management programme per year. Multiple applications by the same person will not be accepted. Applications can take 7-10 days to process so please wait to be contacted.

Funded Three Month membership at YMCA
If you successfully complete your weight management programme in Wyre, you will be eligible for a funded three month YMCA Leisure Centre membership, which you can use across all the Leisure Centres across Wyre. Your Slimming World Consultant will complete and issue your completion letter which you can then take, along with your slimming world membership card into a local Wyre YMCA Leisure Centre to get started and continue on with your new healthy lifestyle.
