Why do we have your personal data?
We may need to process your personal data so we can act in the public interest or discharge one of our official functions. This is known as Public Task and our powers are set down in a number of laws:
- Town Police Clauses Act 1847
- Local Government Act 1972
- Acquisition of Land Act 1981
- Town and County Planning Act 1990
- Local Government (Contracts) Act 1997
- Town and Country Planning (Tree Preservation)(England) Regulations 2012/605
Where we process special category data such as health data and date of birth, this is in pursuit of legal claims.
Where we process information relating to criminal offences, we do so in pursuit of our official authority (where we are undertaking prosecutions, debt recovery action, serving Planning enforcement notices, or representing the council at Licensing Appeals).
