Enjoy this green space in the heart of Thornton, the adjoining fields of King Georges and Church Road has plenty to offer all ages. There's a children’s play area, an outdoor fitness and play equipment trail, sport pitches and areas to walk. Relax on the seating and picnic tables or take a wander on the path through the woodland and spot the woodland bulbs and wildflowers in the springtime.
As part of the Thornton Flood Risk Resilience Project, Wyre Council has teamed up with Wyre Rivers Trust to restore Royles Brook, creating new areas of wetland and woodland habitats onsite. This restoration will also reduce flood risk by reconnecting the Brook with the floodplain, so water can be stored during storms and slowly released back into the brook as waters recede. For more information see the Wyre Rivers Trust.
There are two bowling greens; these are available to Ashdell Bowling Club members and for public use.
The playing fields are the home of Thornton-Cleveleys RUFC. Some of the pitches are available to hire via Thornton YMCA on 01253 824108.
