New Flagship Event launched: Fleetwood’s Food, Fish and Music Festival

Fleetwood, the historic Lancashire coastal town renowned for its proud maritime and fishing heritage, is set to launch an exciting new free flagship event: Fleetwood’s Food, Fish and Music Festival, taking place from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 August 2026.

Fleetwood, the historic Lancashire coastal town renowned for its proud maritime and fishing heritage, is set to launch an exciting new free flagship event: Fleetwood’s Food, Fish and Music Festival, taking place from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 August 2026. 

This brand-new three-day summer festival will celebrate Fleetwood’s coastal identity, honour its fishing past, and showcase the people and businesses that continue to sustain the town’s rich maritime legacy today. Presented by Wyre Council, the festival aims to attract visitors, support local businesses, and generate long-term cultural and economic benefits for Fleetwood. 

Cllr Lynne Bowen Leisure, Health & Community Engagement Portfolio Holder at Wyre Council said: 

“Fleetwood has a fantastic maritime story to tell, and Fleetwood’s Food, Fish and Music Festival is about celebrating that heritage while looking confidently to the future. This new event will bring residents, visitors, and local businesses together for a vibrant weekend that showcases everything that makes Fleetwood special, from its seafood and history to its strong sense of community.” 

Rooted in Fleetwood’s deep connection to the sea, the festival will deliver a lively, family friendly programme with something for everyone. Visitors can enjoy a bustling continental market, fresh fish and seafood stalls, live cooking demonstrations from local chefs, and a traditional funfair for all ages. 

On Friday, festivalgoers are invited to take part in the much-anticipated return of the Fish Queen competition, not held since 1939, where one lucky winner will be crowned Fish King or Queen, reviving a much-loved piece of Fleetwood’s history. 

Live entertainment will also take centre stage, with local favourites The Deadbeats bringing a high energy party atmosphere with hits from across the decades, alongside performances from the Flat Caps, adding to a packed weekend of music and entertainment.

The festival will also celebrate the heritage of Fleetwood with a wide variety of stalls showcasing Fleetwood Museum and its significant maritime collections, and will be delivered in partnership with Fleetwood Market, reinforcing the town centre’s role at the heart of community life. 

Fleetwood’s Food, Fish and Music Festival is proudly sponsored by Fleetwood Fish Association, Midland Fish, A Welsh Seafood, West Coast Fish and Seafood, and King Neptune. 

Fleetwood Fish, Food and Music Festival is on Friday 14 to Sunday 16 August admission is free.
