New Business Grant Scheme to Launch This Autumn – Supporting Growth, Innovation and Sustainability in Wyre

Wyre Council is pleased to announce the launch of a new Business Grant Scheme this autumn, aimed at empowering local businesses to grow, innovate and thrive.

With a total fund of £50,000 available over two years, the scheme will offer grants of up to £5,000 to eligible businesses across the borough.

This initiative is part of Wyre Council’s commitment to building a thriving local economy and vibrant town centres, as outlined in the Economic Development and Visitor Economy Strategy. The scheme is designed to support both start-ups (trading for at least one year) and established businesses looking to scale up or diversify.

Businesses can apply for funding to:

  • Invest in new plant, equipment or machinery
  • Improve or adapt premises, including energy efficiency upgrades
  • Access training, accreditation or professional memberships
  • Upgrade to high-speed broadband
  • Enhance marketing, including website development and promotional materials

Successful applicants will not only receive financial support but also benefit from tailored business support through Wyre Council’s Economic Development Team, Wyred Up, and local partners. Outcomes such as job creation, increased turnover, and improved sustainability will be key indicators of success.

To be eligible, businesses must be registered with Wyred Up, Wyre Council’s dedicated business network. Membership ensures access to the latest business news, support opportunities, and local initiatives, making it an essential platform for any business in Wyre.

The application process will begin with an Expression of Interest, followed by a full application for eligible projects. Grants will be awarded based on clear criteria and subject to a Grant Funding Agreement.

Councillor Peter Le Marinel, Planning Policy and Economic Development Portfolio Holder said:

“We’re proud to be launching this new grant scheme to support the incredible businesses that make Wyre such a dynamic place to live and work. Whether it’s helping a start-up take its next step or enabling an established business to innovate and grow, this funding is about investing in our local economy and our future. I encourage all eligible businesses to register with Wyred Up and take advantage of this opportunity.”

Further details on how to apply, will be announced in the Wyred Up newsletter.
