Local hero revealed at BBC Radio Lancashire awards

Evie, winner of the Bravery award at BBC Radio Lancashire’s Make a Difference Awards 2024.

A local hero has been honoured at this year’s BBC Radio Lancashire’s Make a Difference Awards.

The awards recognise unsung heroes from across the county, reflecting on everything from bravery to voluntary work.

Among the heroes is 10-year-old Evie from Fleetwood. When Evie came across a neighbour who needed urgent medical attention, she quickly and bravely alerted the emergency services and – ultimately – saved his life.

Evie has received the Bravery Award for her act of courage.

The annual ceremony took place on Saturday 21st September, at the world-famous Blackpool Tower.

The Awards received hundreds of entries from across the county, and from 32 finalists, eight winners were announced on the night.

BBC Radio Lancashire’s Breakfast show presenter, Graham Liver, hosted the awards.

Speaking at the event, Graham Liver said

“I’m so pleased that we’ve been able to bring the event to such an iconic venue.

“Our finalists represent the best of Lancashire and it’s our privilege to be able to give them some of the recognition they deserve and shine a light on their hard work.”
