Locally-based Fox Group has announced the acquisition of Fleetwood and Silloth ports from Associated British Ports (ABP) under its newly-established Fox Jackson Ports arm.
Chief Executive Paul Fox, who grew up in Thornton, sees the acquisition of both ports as a key part of their growth strategy and is looking forward to working with the local community, businesses and key stakeholders in their development.
Cllr Michael Vincent, Leader of the Council said:
“This is fantastic news for Fleetwood and the whole of Wyre. We thank ABP for the work they have done in Fleetwood. Fox Jackson Ports have an exciting vision for the site. This level of investment in the town can only be a good thing. We look forward to having sight of their detailed plans, which are subject to the necessary consents and planning permission”.
Councillor Peter Le Marinel, Planning Policy and Economic Development Portfolio Holder added:
"This is absolutely fantastic news for Fleetwood, investment into this area will be greatly welcome. It will be a developed area and a boost for the economy and jobs. I am sure that Fox Jackson Ports will be an excellent addition to the regeneration of Fleetwood".
