Be part of the Great Big Green Week 2022

Big Green Week 2022

Wyre Council are teaming up with Garstang Fairtrade to take part in the Great Big Green Week. And there’s lots going on that you can get involved in!

The Great Big Green Week is a national celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature. Find out how to reduce your carbon footprint, learn how to recycle effectively and take part in nature recovery to help improve our planet.

On Saturday 1 October from 10am until 3pm , join Garstang Fairtrade at the Garstang United Reform Church. They will be hosting a day of activities with Wyre Council, RSPB and Cosy Homes, showcasing how you can make a difference and help Green Garstang.

There will be a rolling video presentation on the effects of climate change shown throughout the event. You will also have the opportunity to purchase Fairtrade refreshments and the sale of Traidcraft goods will be available.

Take part in the recycling trail competition. Entry forms can be picked up on the day and all completed forms will receive a small prize. Correct entries will be entered into a draw and the winner will receive a voucher donated by The Wheatsheaf.

Workshops will be held to show you how you can use recycled newspaper to make paper bags, bird feeders and pot plants.

There will be a team of people there ready to answer any questions you have about recycling, climate change, reducing your carbon footprint, energy usage and on how you can help preserve local wildlife.

Before this event you can take part in a variety of environmental activities in Wyre to find out about nature in the local environment and help us to combat climate change, reduce our carbon footprint, learn how to recycle effectively and take part in nature recovery. Details of all events will be displayed in Visit Garstang Centre during its normal opening hours until Friday 30 September. You can also find them on the Great Big Green website.
