Councillor Lynne Bowen, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Health and Community Engagement at Wyre Council comments, “The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee really is a momentous occasion and so we’ve pulled out all the stops to host events to bring the community together, as well as acknowledging over 50 street party applications. We’re also hosting a Terrific Tea Party for isolated residents in the borough who are not ordinarily able to get out and socialise and volunteers who did so much in the pandemic. Places for this are now all filled and we look forward to welcoming people who were put forward and those from the community and from local care homes.
“As well as everything we’re organising, there are many other events taking place across the borough organised by brilliant community groups including other beacon lightings, walks, afternoon teas, quizzes and more. Details of many of these are on our website. Whatever you are doing, we wish you a safe and enjoyable weekend.”
