Pavement licences

The Business and Planning Act 2020 allows for businesses to place furniture. such as tables and chairs, on a public highway under a temporary pavement licence.

Please read Wyre Council's policy on pavement licences which includes the standard conditions that will be applied to pavement licences, and a template for the site notice.

If granted, licences will be issued for two years. Please see the fees and charges page for the current fee for new and renewal applications.

Applications must be submitted using the online form and advertised by displaying a site notice at the premises for 14 days.

We would remind businesses that until a pavement licence has been granted, furniture such as tables and chairs should not  be placed on the public highway, as the obstruction would be unlawful under the Highways Act 1980.
