How we make decisions
Decisions will be made in accordance with the council’s constitution. Certain decisions can only be made by the full council, or committees appointed by the Full Council. Executive decisions are delegated to the cabinet. There is also a scheme by which certain decisions are delegated to officers.
In the light of the Covid-19 pandemic, and following a decision noted by cabinet, on 22 April 2020 executive decisions and certain non-executive decisions were delegated to officers using emergency powers invoked during a major incident. On 30 September 2020, at the Emergency Powers Executive Decisions meeting, it was agreed that certain executive and non-executive decisions and arrangements continue until 31 March 2021, but not beyond.
