Council tax and benefits
- Tell our council tax department that you have moved into the area using our online form
- Remember to tell the council tax department at the Council you have moved from and give them your forwarding address
- Check if there are any discounts and exemptions that you may be entitled to
- If you need to claim housing benefit or council tax support, view our pages on how to apply
Once you have registered for council tax, you will receive a bill to your property. You can use your first bill to register to view your council tax online or set up a direct debit.
If you have moved into a new build property, we will have to wait for the valuation office to band the property. We will send you a letter if this is the case.
