Pride in Place: Fleetwood Programme
Overview
An area of Fleetwood has been selected as one of the neighbourhoods to benefit from the Government’s Pride in Place programme, a long‑term investment designed to empower local people, strengthen communities, and improve the places they live, work and spend time.
The programme will provide up to £20 million profiled over 10 years, supporting projects shaped directly by the community to address local priorities and create lasting positive change.
What the Programme Aims to Achieve
Pride in Place focuses on three core objectives:
- Stronger Communities - Building a greater sense of connection, belonging and local pride.
- Thriving Places - Improving streets, spaces, public facilities and neighbourhood infrastructure.
- Taking Back Control - Ensuring residents have real influence over local decisions and investment.
A community-led Board
The Pride in Fleetwood Board has been established to lead the programme locally. The Board is predominantly resident‑led and includes a range of community, business and youth representatives, a ward councillor and local Member of Parliament. The Board is chaired by Professor Mark Spencer, GP.
The Board’s responsibilities include:
- Co‑designing a 10‑year Pride in Place Plan
- Shaping local priorities and investment proposals
- Ensuring meaningful community engagement
- Overseeing delivery of projects with support from Wyre Council as the accountable body
Agendas, Minutes & Meeting Papers
All Board agendas, papers and minutes are available on the dedicated programme website:

This site is maintained as the central hub for transparency, updates and programme documentation.
How decisions are made
Residents, businesses, community groups and partners help identify local needs and opportunities. The Board then works with Wyre Council and Government to develop and approve an investment plan that reflects these priorities. This collaborative approach ensures that public funding is shaped by the people who know Fleetwood best.
