August 2021 - round up of events and activities
Our round up of Augusts events and activities has something for everybody this summer.
Summer wildlife around Nicky Nook
A stroll from Scorton over Nicky Nook into the lovely valley of Grizedale taking in some upland habitats and woodland glades. Bring your dog with you too.
Nordic walking taster walk
A chance to try Nordic walking. It is a full body workout using Nordic poles and uses 90% of the body’s muscles and burns 46% more calories than walking without poles. Poles can be provided.
Of Romans Legions and Pendle Witches
The walk skirts to the east of the Bowland Fells before picking up the roman road up to the head of Whitendale, then following the River Dunsop back to Dunsop Bridge.
Brock Valley and Bowland views
The walk heads across the farmland to join the beautiful River Brock valley.
Sullom evening walk
Evening walk from Calder Vale to the trig point on Sullom, to which there is normally no public access. Hopefully there will be a spectacular sunset. Some steep ascents and descents.
Nordic walking experienced walk
A seven mile circular Nordic walk for experienced Nordic walkers. A variety of paths, tracks, fields and lanes including a climb over Nicky Nook and along Grizedale.
Lancaster Canal and Glasson Branch
A seven mile walk looking at the views, buildings, history and wildlife of the Glasson Dock area.
Forton and the Lancaster Canal tramper trek
Explore the countryside tracks and paths around Forton either on foot, or on a tramper, including the tranquil Lancaster Canal.
Winmarleigh – the little village with a big history
A walk including a visit to Winmarleigh Hall and St Luke’s Church to learn about their history. Refreshments (extra charge) will be available in the church.
From the Parish Hall this walk ascends to Parlick, follows the skyline along the fells (with impressive views on a clear day) before gradually descending and returning to Bleasdale.
