You can register to vote online or by using a paper form.
When registering to vote, you will be asked for your National Insurance number, but you can still register if you do not have one. Your name and address will appear on the electoral register after you have registered. If you do not want to appear on the electoral register, there is the option to register anonymously.
Who can register
To register to vote, you must be:
- aged 16 or over
- a British citizen
- a Commonwealth citizen who has permission to enter or stay in the UK, or who does not need permission
