£772,085 has been secured from the Coastal Community Fund, which will go towards a £1.22m project called ‘Joining Up the Wyre Coastline’.
The vision is to link the coastal economies of Cleveleys and Fleetwood by strengthening ties between key visitor attractions using digital signage and an interactive app. The project includes the refurbishment and modernisation of Fleetwood Market to create new units, pop up stalls and space for start-up businesses.
Wyre Council has also secured just under £50,000 as part of the Coastal Revival Fund. This will develop outline feasibility studies to look at the streetscape of Victoria Street, Fleetwood and assess the current entrances to Fleetwood Market and Fleetwood Museum.
The Coastal Community Fund will be split across several key projects:
Interactive trail and digital signage
This project entails the development of an interactive trail to encourage visitors to the borough's attractions via an app that can be downloaded to a mobile device. The idea is to encourage visitors and residents to utilize the coastal pathway from Cleveleys to Fleetwood. People will be able to use the app to identify certain landmarks and gain incentives for visiting along the way. It will be an innovative project for Cleveleys and Fleetwood and will encourage health and wellbeing, team working and promote social inclusion.
To complement this we will be installing three new digital signs across the coastline. These signs will promote activities across Wyre to residents and visitors and will provide information on the interactive trail. If you are interested in advertising on these signs then please get in touch
Fleetwood Outdoor Market
This project will see huge improvements to the outdoor market space at Fleetwood Market. The project will introduce new stalls, a comfortable seating/entertainment area, new cultural events calendar, new signage and resurfacing of the outdoor market ground.
We are looking at various options and designs to give the visitors and the traders the best environment we can to shop and trade.
Following a consultation with visitors and traders it was recognised that there was a lack of an offer around fresh food. The project would like to see a quality food offer outside combined with food events and pop up style food themed events to attract more footfall to the market in general,
There will be 8 new units offering the basic set up which you can customise for your business needs.
If you are interested in taking up a stall or would like to find out more please contact us.
