East Irish Sea Transmission Project

Orsted is working with the Isle of Man Government to explore providing a new windfarm within Isle of Man territorial waters, the windfarm is called Mooir Vannin. Orsted will be responsible for connecting the wind farm via an onshore cable to Penwortham, this aspect will be known as the East Irish Sea Transmission Project.

The East Irish Sea Transmission Project is seeking consent to bring secure renewable energy from the Mooir Vannin Offshore Wind Farm in the Isle of Man’s territorial waters to UK consumers via a grid connection point at Penwortham.

It is set to deliver in the region of 1.4 GW of secure, low-cost, clean energy to UK consumers connecting green energy directly to the UK grid, helping us move closer to a net-zero future.

The anticipated operational start date will be between 2032 and 2033, with power being generated from that point.

Orsted are holding a series of community information events as an opportunity for you to meet with members of their team and learn more about the proposals at this early stage.

We are sharing details of these upcoming community information events so that Wyre residents have the opportunity to voice their opinions and keep informed.

Please feel free to drop in at any time during the opening hours – there is no need to register in advance.
