A local validation checklist is an important document that details the information that is required when submitting a planning application. Certain national requirements are mandatory, but local authorities have the discretion to include a local list of validation criteria. This ensures that the council has the right level of information submitted with the planning application at the start of the process, which can avoid unnecessary delay.
It is important to seek the views of anyone who may use the local validation checklist. The council sought comments on the draft local validation checklist over a four week period between 5 May and 7 June 2023. Comments received during the consultation have been considered by officers. The final local validation checklist was adopted by council on 14 July 2023.
The local validation checklist will be periodically reviewed, at least every two years, to ensure that it remains up to date.
