The latest figures from the independent STEAM (Scarborough Tourism Economic Activity Monitor) report, revealed a fantastic year for tourism in Wyre and cemented its position as one of Lancashire’s top destinations for visitors.
The report, released this week, showed that Wyre recorded 4.4 million visits in 2024. This made Wyre the fourth most visited destination in Lancashire, attracting 6.4% of all tourism visits to the county. Of these visits, 0.58 million were overnight stays as part of a holiday or short break and 3.82 million were day visits to enjoy Wyre’s wonderful coast and countryside.
These visits generated an impressive £433.71 million for the local economy, representing 7.6% of Lancashire’s total tourism value. Visitor spending supported 3,835 full-time equivalent jobs, highlighting the vital role tourism plays in Wyre’s economic success.
Councillor Lynne Bowen, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Health and Community Engagement said:
