Wyre Council Announces New Partnership to Deliver Business Support for Local Businesses

Wyre Council is pleased to announce the selection of The Small Business Academy as its new partner to deliver the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) Business Support.

This initiative, now in collaboration with Blackpool Council and Fylde Council, aims to provide comprehensive support and mentoring to start-up, growth and expanding companies on the Fylde Coast.

The Small Business Academy, a local Fylde business, is run by successful entrepreneur, Nikki Hesford. Nikki and her team of experienced advisors, who have each run their own successful businesses, have been instrumental in driving business success on the Fylde Coast. Their proven track record with Blackpool Council and other Lancashire Councils, has demonstrated their ability to foster growth and sustainability among local businesses. The Small Business Academy is located at Peel Hall, which is close to Whitehills Industrial Park, located by the M55.

The Small Business Academy workshops and events will cover a wide range of topics essential for business development, including financing options, legal concerns, marketing strategies and technological advancements.

These sessions are designed to cater to the needs of various types of businesses, from start-ups to established companies looking to scale, enhancing local networking and supply opportunities.

Nikki Hesford, founder of The Small Business Academy, expressed her enthusiasm for the new partnership,

“Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Councils have independently selected The Small Business Academy to deliver the next round of their UK Shared Prosperity Funding business support programmes. Their decisions enable the Small Business Academy to provide comprehensive services to all businesses across the Fylde Coast simultaneously. Although this is not a formal collaboration between the councils, due to the funding guidelines that needed to be followed, it does reflect a shared commitment to engendering a unified approach, both in promotion and delivery of local to area business support. Our aim is to enhance networking and business opportunities across the Fylde Coast, ensuring that business support is consistent and not dependent on geographical boundaries.”

Wyre Council's commitment to local economic development is reflected in this new partnership. The Economic Development team can also provide assistance to innovators, investors, and those seeking support venturing into other markets, including overseas.

Councillor Peter Le Marinel, Planning Policy and Economic Development Portfolio Holder said,

"We are delighted to be able to extend our support to Wyre businesses. Our goal is to empower Wyre’s entrepreneurs and business leaders with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed. By offering the same business support service across the three Fylde Coast Councils locally, we hope to foster a stronger business community that thrives on collaboration and mutual support."
