A local land charge search is an important step in the process of buying or leasing a new home or business premises. This service is designed to ensure that purchasers of property or land are aware of any obligations or restrictions that apply.
The local land charges search is divided into two parts, the LLC1 search and Con29 enquiries.
Local land charges register (LLC1 search)
The LLC1 search will reveal all charges, for example conditional planning permissions, tree preservation orders, conservation areas, which are binding on successive owners or occupiers of the property or land. Charges may be of a financial or non-financial nature.
Our Local Land Charges Register was migrated to HM Land Registry's national register on 19 December 2025. After this date all LCC1 requests should be directed to HM Land Registry. Access to the new digital service is through the Portal, Business Gateway and on the HM Land Registry's GOV.UK webpages.
Wyre Council will continue to provide replies to Con29 enquiries.
Con29 - Enquiries of the Local Authority (2016)
The CON29 questionnaire contains standard questions. Some of the questions on the CON29 are designed to act as 'warning' questions and information given can, at the end of the process, end up on the local land charges register.
The standard questions are sent to various departments within the council and are intended to provide additional information about the property/land you are purchasing or leasing, which are not included on the local land charges register.
