Wyre Council has developed a simple, phased, step by step process which providers of new supported housing schemes should follow prior to developing any new Supported Housing Scheme.
We expect providers to work with the Council when opening new supported housing, by ensuring it is located in the right place to meet local needs. The Council will work closely internally to ensure that supported housing is of good quality and provides the appropriate support to the individuals residing in the accommodation.
Step 1
Complete form to advise the Council of your intentions. The form requires information about your proposal, including the number of bed spaces and the customer group it is providing accommodation for. We expect providers of supported accommodation to engage with the relevant commissioner, where appropriate, to confirm there is a need for the proposed provision.
We also expect providers to check with the Planning Department and Licensing to ensure appropriate permission and/or licenses are in place for the scheme.
You will be asked to provide a breakdown of your rent costs as part of this process.

Step 2:
Council officers from different teams within the Council will complete due diligence and review whether your proposal is acceptable in principal.
Step 3:
An inspection of the accommodation will take place. We will also inform Lancashire Fire & Rescue who may wish to inspect your provision.
