Statutory consultation
The statutory consultation for Local Government Reorganisation in Lancashire is now live. The government-led consultation aims to determine which proposal for Local Government Reorganisation best meets the terms set in the statutory invitation sent to all Lancashire council chief executives on 5 February 2025.
The government have confirmed a list of stakeholders they will consult throughout the process. This includes neighbouring councils, health, police, fire and education bodies, other public sector organisations and businesses.
Complete the survey
All residents are welcome to complete the survey. If you would like to participate, please ensure you have read our proposal for a 3 unitary authority Lancashire beforehand and complete the survey at the link below.
Although Wyre supports the 3UA model, all consultations are available on the Local Government in Lancashire website.
The survey runs from 5 February – 26 March. Following this, the government will make a formal assessment against the formal criteria for LGR and make their decision by late Summer this year.
Paper copies are available at your local library and at the Civic Centre reception, Poulton-le-Fylde. Guidance on completing the paper form is available on the Lancashire Local Government Reorganisation public consultation page.
Next steps
Following the end of the survey on 26 March, the government’s decision is due late Summer this year. We will notify the public when this has been made.
