Come along to Wyre’s Festive Get Together

On Friday 8 December, Wyre Council is hosting a community festive get together at Poulton Community Hall.

There will be carol signing and games of bingo, plus stalls to browse with information about community groups to join and local activities to enjoy. Council staff will also be on hand to answer any enquiries. Saint John’s Primary School will be there to perform some classic carols, plus there will be free tea, coffee and mince pies.

Open from 2pm to 4pm it’s a free event and there’s no need to book.

Exhibitors on the day will include:

  • Wyre Council stalls:
    • Contact centre – meet the team who will happily answer your enquiries about council services
    • Volunteering team – find out what volunteering opportunities there are for you to get involved with
    • Coast and countryside team – find out about activities you can enjoy in the great outdoors
    • Care and repair – chat to about help with property repairs and adaptations to your home or get help to apply for financial support
    • Just reminiscing – come and enjoy looking at objects and artefacts from years gone by
    • Christmas crafts - try your hand at making a decoration to take home

Councillor Ian Amos is Wyre Council’s Lead Member for Older People and comments, “This is our second Christmas get together event and it’s a nice opportunity for our more senior residents to enjoy some festive entertainment and find out what’s on in the local area.

“Our staff will be there to help answer any enquiries and we’re pleased to be joined by other local services and social clubs in the area. 

 

“If you fancy some time out of the house and to sing some good old Christmas carols please do come along and join us for a mince pie and a brew. Similarly if you know anyone who could use some company this Christmas please let them know.”
