There are a number of Remembrance parades, processions and services taking place across the borough this year.
Bilsborrow on Saturday 11 November 2023
There is a service at the War Memorial, Bilsborrow. Those attending are asked to assemble at 10.15 am at the Village Hall. Wyre Councillor Peter Cartridge will attend this service and lay the council’s wreath on the Mayor’s behalf.
Fleetwood Memorial Park, Warrenhurst Road on Remembrance Sunday 12 November 2023
A parade assembles at The Kings Own Club, Adelaide Street at 10.00am with the full Parade assembling at the top of Warrenhurst Road at 10.30am. The Deputy Mayor, Councillor Sue Catterall and consort will attend this service along with the Chief Executive Officer of Wyre Council.
Garstang on Remembrance Sunday 12 November 2023
A procession will assemble at the High Street Car Park at 9.00am for a parade to St Thomas’ Church for the Church Service at 9.30 am. The parade will then leave the church to complete the wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial on Croston Rd at 10.45 am. Councillor Alice Collinson will attend this service and lay the council’s wreath on the Mayor’s behalf.
Poulton-le-Fylde on Remembrance Sunday 12 November 2023
There is a service at the War Memorial, Market Place. Those attending are asked to assemble at the Old Town Hall, at 10.45am. The Mayor of Wyre, Councillor Julie Robinson and consort will attend this service along with Councillor Peter Le Marinel, the Youth Mayor for Wyre and Lieutenant Colonel Richard Beatson DL.
Preesall on Remembrance Sunday 12 November 2023
There will be a wreath laying service at the cenotaph at 1.30pm then to Oswald's for a 2pm service, followed by refreshments in the church hall. Wyre Councillor Lynne Bowen will attend this on the Mayors behalf.
Thornton-Cleveleys on Remembrance Sunday 12 November 2023
There is a service at the Cenotaph, Four Lane Ends. Those attending are asked to assemble at the Thornton Little Theatre at 10.15am. Leader of Wyre Council, Councillor Michael Vincent will attend and lay the council’s wreath on behalf of the Mayor.
Free Parking for Remembrance Sunday 12 November 2023
This year on Sunday 12 November we are offering free parking between 8am and 2pm on Wheatsheaf Way car park in Poulton, FY6 7TB, High Street car park in Garstang, PR3 1EB and Albert Street car park in Fleetwood, FY7 6AH.
The Leader of Wyre Council Councillor Michael Vincent commenting on the planned Remembrance services said, “It is an honour to gather together on Remembrance Sunday and have the opportunity to offer our deepest respect and express our eternal gratitude to our veterans past and present. Please join us at one of the services to join in and pay your respects.”
