Wyre Council's Cabinet member, Councillor Barry Birch, has resigned from the cabinet with immediate effect. He will continue to be the elected representative for Highcross ward.

Councillor Birch has left due to time constraints and other commitments. He held the Economy portfolio with responsibility for economic development, regeneration, development control, transport infrastructure, housing, building control and conservation.

Councillor Peter Gibson, Leader of Wyre Council, said "I would like to thank Barry for all his work on the Cabinet. He has been instrumental in putting projects in place that Wyre will see the benefit of for years to come.

"I will not rush in to replacing Councillor Birch immediately but will consider all the options available before making a decision."
