A round up of news from Wyre
Works starts to clear Fleetwood beach
Work has started on Fleetwood beach to remove trees and weeds adjacent to the promenade along with the enriched sand dune in which they are growing. This involves cutting back vegetation and dropping the beach level by approx 1m next to the sea wall, from the RNLI Lifeboat Station to Fleetwood Pier, in order to prevent any further build up of invasive plants.
The work is being carried out by Wyre Council's Engineering Team in conjunction with the Ranger Service and Natural England to ensure that protected species are not damaged.
