Wyre's award winning Tourist Centres to reopen

Published on Tuesday 30th March 2010

Following extensive refurbishment, Wyre Borough Council is reopening its award winning Visit Fleetwood and Visit Cleveleys centres in time for the Easter holidays.

Wyre Borough Council has been successful in getting support from the North West Development Agency and the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board who are funding the improvement works.

Director of Leisure Services Tom Pridmore said: "We are delighted with the investment being made in our centres that will result in a much better service for both visitors and the local community. The tourism economy is a vital part of the local economy and this investment will help support wider economic regeneration in both Cleveleys and Fleetwood".

Doors will open on Good Friday, 2 April and the centres will operate from 10.30am - 4.30pm, seven days a week at Fleetwood and three days a week at Cleveleys. The Cleveleys service will eventually be supplemented by a promenade information point.

Selling an exciting new range of souvenirs, visitors and residents will be able to pick up some lovely personalised items from their favourite resort. Maps, books, postcards and much more will also be on sale.

Blackpool Transport travel cards for buses and trams across the region, and National Express tickets for the entire country, are also available.

The centres will also offer super attraction and show tickets at discounted prices. Southport Flower Show, Hot Ice Show, Sealife Centre and Camelot are a sample of tickets on offer.

The centres also specialise in the supply of holiday brochures covering Wyre, the North West and the whole of the UK. There is also a booking service for accommodation, whether local or national, with no extra cost to the customer.
