The Forest of Bowland

Forest of Bowland

The Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is a nationally protected landscape and is internationally important for its heather moorland, blanket bog and rare birds.

It is managed by a partnership of landowners, farmers, voluntary organisations, local councils and government agencies, who work to protect, conserve and enhance the natural and cultural heritage of this special area.

In Wyre there are a variety of places to visit such as Garstang, Scorton, Claughton, Calder Vale, Dolphinhome and Bleasdale where you can experience the views, wildlife and heritage of the area.

Pop into the Visit Garstang centre to take a look at the latest Discover Bowland information and Festival Bowland Programme to find out about events, activities and where you can walk and cycle in the area.
