Alcohol related anti-social behaviour

Wyre council is consulting about the proposed renewal of its existing Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in relation to alcohol related anti-social behaviour.

The order which covers certain areas of public space within the towns of Cleveleys, Fleetwood, Garstang and Poulton-le-Fylde, requires individuals to stop consuming alcohol, or to surrender any alcohol in their possession, when asked to do so by the police.  Individuals can be prosecuted or given a fixed penalty of up to £100 if they fail to do as asked.

The council considers the existing Order to be an effective deterrent to alcohol related anti-social behaviour and is therefore minded to renew it for a further three years.  The council is however interested to hear the views of the community before making a decision and would invite anyone wishing to make a comment to do so before 5pm on Saturday 18 November 2023, when the consultation will close.
