Coronavirus testing unit coming to Wyre

test and trace Published Friday, 06 November 2020

A coronavirus testing facility is to open at Albert Street car park in Fleetwood as part of the Government’s UK-wide drive to increase testing.

The testing site will begin installation from 6am on Friday 20 November at Albert Street car park, Fleetwood. The site is scheduled to open and begin testing on Friday 27 November.

As an interim measure, mobile testing units were deployed to local authorities who did not have testing units in place. The mobile drive-through testing unit will be replaced with this walk-in, appointment only testing site.

Appointments are available from 8am-8pm seven days a week.

You must have a pre-booked appointment to attend this centre, please do not turn up without one as you will not be admitted

Testing is available to anyone with additional support for vulnerable groups and people with disabilities.

Tests should be booked or ordered as soon as symptoms begin at www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.

Symptoms include:

  1. Loss/change in sense of smell
  2. Loss/change in sense of taste
  3. High temperature
  4. New continuous cough

FAQs on the new testing site are available on our website.

The car park will remain closed to the public for the foreseeable future, the nearest council car park is at Custom House Lane.

Anyone testing positive for the virus will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace to help them track their contacts. This will help people to identify who they may have been in close contact with, advising them to stay at home for 14 days to prevent them from unknowingly spreading the virus. They will be advised to also book at test if they develop symptoms.

To book your appointment, please visit www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or call 119.
