Longer car parking to boost town centre trade

Car park prices Published Thursday, 02 July 2020

From 6 July – 30 September 2020 we're giving you an extra hour's parking for free in our town centres.

For the next three months parking times will be extended by an hour in Poulton on Mondays, Fleetwood on Tuesdays, Cleveleys on Wednesdays and Garstang on Thursdays.

Parking on all Wyre Council’s long stay car parks on the relevant day will be extended so that a £1 ticket will give you 2 hours parking and £2 ticket will give you 4 hours.

On Rough Lea Road in Cleveleys which is a short stay car park, a £1 ticket will be increased to two hours and a £2 ticket will allow you to park for three hours.

Councillor Roger Berry, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services and Community Safety comments, “As part of our recovery plan we are working closely with businesses to ensure that our high streets reopen safely. We know how difficult this last few months has been for businesses and we want to encourage people back to our town centres, whilst adhering to government guidance to stay safe. This extra time will give people the chance to spend more time in our shops and cafes and hopefully give local businesses a bit of a boost.”

“I would also encourage local people to buy our residents permit pass. They are £30 and are valid for two years, allowing you to park for up to three hours on any long stay car park, 365 days a year.

“We are very much looking forward to reopening Fleetwood Market next Tuesday 7 July. Our market at Poulton continues on a Monday and we are looking forward to welcoming back traders as they start to return.”

The changes to parking fees will be in place until 30 September. To find out more go to www.wyre.gov.uk/carparks
