Further boost to Fleetwood’s high streetPublished Monday, 16 September 2019
Fleetwood has been selected to receive a share of a £95 million heritage regeneration fund.
In May 2019, Heritage England launched a multi-million pound fund to create new ways to champion and revive the country’s historic high streets through the High Streets Heritage Action Zones scheme.
Fleetwood is one of 69 high streets across England which have been selected to receive a share of the fund. The council will now progress to the next stage of development and will work with Heritage England to develop plans to revive Fleetwood high street.
This news comes after Wyre Council’s announcement in July that Fleetwood is also through to the second phase of the government’s £675m Future High Streets Fund. The council is currently working up detailed project proposals to bid for a share in the money to transform Fleetwood high street.
The success of both funding announcements is an example of Wyre Council’s commitment to creating a thriving town centre for Fleetwood.
