Wyre’s just blooming beautiful – and here’s the proof!

On Friday 3 November at the Southport Convention Centre, teams of volunteers from across the North West came together to celebrate their achievements in the North West in Bloom Awards 2017.

Wyre has managed a spectacular haul of awards this year in both the regional and neighbourhood entries.

Plus Wyre’s parks are celebrating an unprecedented coup in collecting four Gold Awards in the RHS Parks section for Kepple Lane and the Millennium Green in Garstang, Jean Stansfield Park in Poulton and for Memorial Park, Fleetwood the added accolade of RHS Merit of Distinction. Kepple Lane also won the Biodiversity Award for a small entry, and the Mount Gardens at Fleetwood picked up the 2017 Heritage Award.

All these results reflect the fabulous efforts of both the volunteers and the Wyre parks staff who work together trying to improve all the areas where they live and work.

A number of local businesses were also singled out for awards, Fold House received gold in the caravan park section, the Black Bull in Preesall received silver and the Golden Ball in Pilling received a silver gilt both in the small accommodation section.

Councillor Peter Murphy, chairman of Wyre's Britain in Bloom committee comments, “These results are absolutely fabulous for the area, we benefit from all the volunteers across the borough who put countless hours in to make our area as special as it is.”
