Living Seas North West

Did you know that marine habitats off the coast of Lancashire are as rich in wildlife as the Amazon rainforest? From grey seals to sea gooseberries, we have an incredibly diverse array of life in our seas and we want more people to know about it! Lancashire’s Living Seas is an exciting new project led by the Lancashire Wildlife Trust. Working in partnership with Wyre, Fylde and Blackpool councils, as well as local organisations, Living Seas North West organise exciting wildlife events along the Lancashire coast. From marine mammal watches to searching for signs of life beneath the waves washed up on the beach, there is something for every thalassophile (lover of the sea)!

Events include:

  • Shark skate and ray egg case hunts
  • Marine mammal and sea bird watching events
  • Family friendly events on the beach
  • Sandcastle building competitions
  • Shore surveys
  • Wildlife walks
  • Rock pooling
  • Marine plastic pollution surveys
  • Craft events

Become a marine champion volunteer
