There's plenty going on in Wyre to keep you active. We’ve got sports, leisure activities and events in the community plus much more to get you out and about. Whatever your age we’ve got something for you to enjoy.

Meeting people and having fun is important to keep mentally and physically healthy. It’s not always easy to get out and to find out what’s happening near you, but staying at home can get you down and even lead to loneliness. Have a look at what’s on near you and take the opportunity to make new friends, get active or learn a new skill. 

Harmony and Health Singing Groups

If you know anyone who loves a good sing song or who might just want to join a local friendly group point them in our direction. Together with Healthier Fleetwood we host a number of singing groups across the borough. No experience is necessary and everyone is welcome. There’s a group at Marine Hall every Tuesday at 1.30pm - 3pm, at Thornton Little Theatre every Tuesday at 10.30am - 12pm and at Hambleton Village Hall every Wednesday 1.30pm - 3pm.


We are lucky in Wyre to have so many beautiful parks and open spaces. Why not get out and take a stroll? There’s children’s play areas and nature trails to enjoy, picnic spots, all types of flowers and plants and much more. 

Sports, activities and fitness  

Keeping fit and active are key to achieving a healthier lifestyle. As well as helping you to keep a healthy weight, further benefits include lowering high blood pressure, strengthening your muscles and bones and increasing your flexibility. 

Fylde Coast YMCA is committed to creating healthy sustainable communities where all individuals can lead active lives and fulfil their potential in body, mind and spirit. As well as four YMCA leisure centres in Wyre with fitness activities for all ages and abilities, they also run a specialised health and wellbeing programme -Your Move - to provide help and support for over 2,000 local adults, children and families in overcoming health conditions or making improvements to their daily lives. 

Try the new Fleetwood parkrun - a weekly 5k timed event that takes place at 9am every Saturday along the promenade. Setting off on the promenade behind Marine Hall, you can walk, jog or run – or even become a volunteer to help the event run smoothly. 


If walking is your thing Wyre has something for everyone including guided walks, health walks, wildlife walks, green activities, fun activities for families, heritage walks, park activities and open days.

Allotments and Gardening

Just 30 minutes working in an allotment can have great benefits to your health and wellbeing. According to scientists from Essex and Westminster universities spending half an hour a week on an allotment results in an instant reduction in stress and fatigue, as well as boosting self-esteem, vigour and a general feeling of good health. Why not lease an allotment in your area?

Or if you fancy trying your hand at gardening, why not pop along to Memorial Park's gardening club in Fleetwood? 


As well as a weekly tea dance in Marine Hall's magnificent ballroom did you know there are all sorts of shows, events and festivals taking place at Wyre’s theatres? A trip to the theatre can be an excellent pick me up and is a great way of socialising.


Do you use your local library? Did you know you can access computers and wifi, join a reading group or reading challenge, or enjoy one of many free events such as baby bounce and rhyme, children’s storytime, knit and knatter and much more? They also offer help in getting online for those who need it meaning everyone can stay connected.
