Taxi owner information

Licensing Officers are available to speak to without an appointment Monday to Friday, between 9am and 1pm. If you have an urgent enquiry outside these times you can email licensing@wyre.gov.uk

Code of conduct 

The owner/proprietor of a taxi in the Wyre area must display the following inside the vehicle, clearly visible to passengers. Two versions of this are available: 

 Accidents

If your licensed vehicle is involved in an accident, you must complete an accident report form and notify the licensing office within 72 hours. 

Changing operators

You must notify the licensing office within seven days, if you begin working for a new operator.

Change of name or address

If you change your name or address, you must inform the licensing office within 72 hours of the change occuring. 

Transfer of a vehicle 

If you sell or transfer your vehicle, you must complete the vehicle licence transfer form and return it to the licensing office within 14 days.

Surrendering a private hire vehicle

If you wish to surrender your vehicle licence, please use the form above.

Tthe following items must be returned to the council when surrendering a private hire vehicle licence:

  • Old plates- expired licence plates remain the property of the council and must be returned to the council
  • Previous vehicle licence and certificate of compliance
  • Previous vehicle windscreen licence disc
  • Private hire door stickers (or the remains)
