The council has submitted bids for a number of funding opportunities to enable us to deliver economic growth and prosperity to Fleetwood. This has formed the ‘Future Fleetwood’ project in which we will create plans on how we will transform Fleetwood over the next 20 years. An initial public consultation took place in late 2019 on the draft options, and the display boards from the consultation can be viewed here. Paper copies are available to view at Fleetwood library
Town Centre Masterplan
Fleetwood town centre has been successful in the first round of the Government’s Future High Streets Fund and has been awarded £150,000.
The money will be used to help the council develop a masterplan to set out how Fleetwood can sustain and deliver economic growth and prosperity in the town and in doing this, drive improvements in the quality of life of our residents and productivity of businesses, now and into the future.
The masterplan will act as a focal point and will support the preparation of a business case as part of the council’s submission bid to the second round of Future High Streets Fund due in April 2020.
If the council’s business case is accepted, further monies could be received up to £25 million to implement our plans to make Fleetwood’s high street and town centre fit for the future, which will bring regeneration through innovative proposals.
A critical part of developing a masterplan is consultation and engagement with the community and key stakeholders so that together we can create a shared vision and strategy for the Town.
We will be holding a second consultation on the draft masterplan on Wednesday 26 February at the Marine Hall, Fleetwood at 2pm – 7.30pm. Further details will be announced closer to the date
