Clinical waste

Clinical Waste

Wyre Council, in partnership with our contractor, offers a household clinical waste disposal service. You cannot put clinical waste in your normal bins.

Clinical waste is any waste that poses a threat of infection to humans, requires special collection and disposal arrangements (incineration) and includes the following:

  • human tissue
  • blood and other bodily fluids
  • swabs and dressings
  • syringes, needles or other sharp instruments

Syringes, needles or other sharp instruments can be disposed of at a needle exchange with your GP or pharmacy.

We cannot collect cytotoxic or sanitary waste. You can put waste such as incontinence products in your grey bin. If you are struggling with the amount of waste in your grey bin, please visit our page about requesting a bigger bin.
