Holiday club for kids

This summer Wyre Council launched its first free Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) clubs programme, which was attended and enjoyed by over 500 children and young people.

The local summer holiday clubs were held in partnership with local holiday club providers at venues such as Fleetwood YMCA, Thornton YMCA, Flakefleet Primary School, Poolfoot Farm, Garstang Academy High School, St Aidan’s High School,  Fleetwood High School, LCC Milton Street and Acorns Nursery, for both primary and secondary aged children who are eligible for free school meals. Paid for places were also available for children who weren’t eligible to attend for free.

Activities ranged from arts and crafts to cooking, bowling, kayaking, football and much more, as well as activities for children with special education needs or disabilities. Each day the children could have fun, meet new friends, gain new skills and enjoy a free meal.

Wyre Council hopes to offer holiday clubs again during the Christmas holidays. Details will be published nearer the time on our website and social media channels.
