In Wyre the Food Safety team are responsible for enforcing food safety legislation in around 1400 food premises. 

We publish the results of all our food safety inspections online through the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme. Premises are given a star rating out of 5 to show how clean and safe they are. 

STOP PRESS - we have been alerted to an alleged scam where a man and woman claiming to be food hygiene inspectors have turned up at premises, looked around, recorded information on their mobile phones and on one occasion taken food away for testing. They are also alleged to have tried to charge on the spot fines for such things as expired food hygiene rating certificates. All council officers carry clear identification when they visit food premises and food safety officers will not issue on-the-spot fines. If in doubt, please report anything suspicious to the council.
