Fleetwood resident fined for leaving out rubbish bags

Rubbish

A Fleetwood resident has been successfully prosecuted for repeatedly leaving black bin bags in the street.

Rebecca Fitton, of Seymour Street in the town, was prosecuted by Wyre Council under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 after failing to use wheelie bins provided by the council and instead leaving numerous black bin bags in an alley near her home.

Evidence within the bags led to the identification of Fitton and, after warnings from the council were ignored, she was issued with a fixed penalty notice, which she then failed to pay.

Fitton was today ordered to pay fines, costs and a victim surcharge totalling £465 by Fleetwood Magistrate's Court.
