ICI chimney demolition

In just four seconds the iconic ICI chimney in Thornton came thundering down on Saturday 7 November.

The day belonged to the two youngsters who were given the chance of blasting away history by their grandad, Philip Wardell, who had won the right to 'press the button' in a raffle.

This had been held on behalf of the Mayor of Wyre's two main charities, Trinity Hospice and Fleetwood RNLI, and raised more than £1,400.
