Entries now open for the Sheraton Trophy 2019Published Friday, 15 February 2019
Nominations are now being sought for Wyre’s most inspirational young people. If you know a young person who exceeds in their area, nominate them for the Sheraton Trophy.
The deadline for the 2019 nominations close Friday 29 March.
Every year the Mayor of Wyre presents the prestigious Sheraton Trophy to a rising star who has brought pride to the borough as a result of their achievements.
The Sheraton Trophy takes its name from HMS Sheraton which was awarded the Freedom of the Borough in recognition of work done in Fleetwood by the crew during the 1977 flood emergency when the ship was visiting the port.
Wyre Council wants to hear about young people who have excelled in any walk of life, be it sport, the arts, community work, volunteering or an achievement against the odds.
One deserving winner, chosen by the outgoing Mayor Councillor Marge Anderton, will be presented with the trophy at the council’s annual meeting on Thursday 16 May.
Last year’s trophy was awarded to Jade Mia Smith from Poulton-le-Fylde in recognition of her voluntary work. Jade was nominated by URPotential for her prodigious voluntary work and challenges which she overcame.
Do you know an inspirational young person? To nominate them for this year’s Sheraton Trophy, email firstname.lastname@example.org or write to Andrea Mullin, Civic Centre, Breck Road, Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire FY6 7PU.
The deadline for entries is Friday 29 March 2019.
